Launch of Living Logistics
Living Logistics Day at Boston West School
80 excited children from Boston West Academy came ‘up close and personal’ to a truck last Wednesday as Darren Peall and driver Chris from Turners Distribution Ltd. Spalding brought one of their trucks into the playground.
The Living Logistics day saw the children engaged in a range of activities that have been designed to help them understand the importance of Road Safety around trucks and how logistics has helped to build the town of Boston.
Some of the children were able to sit in the truck to see what the driver can see, as well as measuring the dimensions of the truck and see how the refrigerated container works. All of the children were amazed at how big the truck was in real life.
A video played to the children illustrated the number of cyclists that were able to stand alongside the truck in the ‘blind spot’ – a surprising 13 cyclists.
Meeting with local MP Mark Simmonds
A number of business people met with local MP Mark Simmonds at a breakfast
meeting in Skegness on 16th January. In his talk he covered five areas that he
believes will form major topics of debate in the run up to the election in May; these
are:
Taxation
re-focusing of benefits
European Union
Immigration
The Deficit
he also spoke about the work of the Local Enterprise Partnerships and the
perception people have of working in Boston and Skegness which needs to be
challenged and how local businesses can play their part in changing those
perceptions.
Mark also introduced the new Candidate Matt Warman and I had the opportunity to
speak to both of them about up and coming projects that BHT are developing. See
this website, or link to our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter to receive further
news on these projects as they develop.
